The perspective is definitely a little too wonky in the closest corner, but the point is, I at least tackled what I set out to do today.
Character pages for Sweetpea and Walter from my thesis, Jinx and Tonic.
Congrats again to the stunning Lupita Nyong’o on her Oscar win!
I’ve been so busy that I only just now—on the last day of February—finally drawing my Femslash Feb picture because I needed a break from thesis work/internship work.
Anyway, have a Shiny High-Tech Robot and her Outdated Android girlfriend.
Also, here are my previous Femslash February Pictures:
Tried to teach myself Illustrator this weekend by following this tutorial. I made a panda!
A quick refresher for those wondering:
Sweetpea—The main character. Jazz singer, witch, and co-owner of the struggling speakeasy, The Nightshade Club. Discovers…
…Walter—Trumpet player, undead, and general all-around sad-sack. Sweetpea finds him on the streets and convinces him to play for their band to replace…
…Santiago—The former trumpet player of the Nightshade Club band. Werewolf. Temporarily out of commission after his arm suffers a nasty break trying to earn money in the underground werewolf fighting rings, run by…
…Lester—Sweetpea’s rival, owner of the much more successful Blackhollow Club, and a practiced Bokor (sorcerer), who have control over the undead…
Decided to split my “Best of 2K13 Artwork” into two photosets; classwork and fanart.
First row is spring semester, second row is summer school (and a study I did during summer from a photo), and the last six are from fall semester.
I…seem to really like the red/violet/purple color combo.
My figure paintings in Zhaoming Wu’s class throughout this semester, taken with questionable lighting in my parents’ house.
An updated (and perhaps 80%? finished) look at the assets and game board for my vis dev for social games class. So close to the finish line—just one week left!
My not-quite-yet layout for my final boards. The first two are the same, just with different pictures and therefore a different layout as I figure out which paintings I want to take to final finish.
I’ll also probably end up lightening up/desaturating the purple background and making the stoop drawing bigger, as per my instructor Joko’s suggestions. Aaaand also making my title bar much smaller.
Thesis work. Forever in-progress.
Sketches for game design. I’m trying to decide whether or not I should be obnoxiously bright about my colors for the final state.
Putting some of my assets together on my rough game board to see how they look. I think they stand out much more with the top color design.
I was so excited to work on my homework for next week I actually started it tonight after class. (And also just in time for Halloween)
My teacher had the great idea to combine my previous house drawing with my evil sorceress tower (so it would look less Rapunzel-y), and instead of having the tree separate, to wrap it around the structure instead.
It’s supposed to be a three-state buildable (or destructable, in this case), and these are more-or-less the first two stages. I may still end up changing some things around to make the damage more pronounced and the silhouette stronger.
Color studies for my game board. The ones with the green border are the studies I’m leaning towards. We were required to do six but I did 14 (four were really ugly, so I cut them out), because I need all the practice I can get when it comes to color and lighting.
EDIT: also added my characters so I could see how the colors all looked together.
